Aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body to get rid of swelling due to an acute injury, post operation, chronic illness, or any other issues where the lymphatic system is causing inflammation issues and needs some assistance.
Kinesiology Taping is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion, as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of therapy. Taping can be used to decrease pain, decrease swelling, increase movement, and improve posture.
Designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. This work enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery before and after an event.
Through postural assessments, it can be determined what muscles or structures may be impacting your ability to move and causing your pain. We'll guide you through several different movement patterns and tests to gain a full assessment to determine the main dysfunction to generate a plan of care to treat the issue.
Through a full history intake, functional and postural assessment, special tests, and bodywork, we can help you get back on track by getting down to the bottom of your issue and finding not only what type of treatment you need, but what you can do on your own time to prevent flare ups and help maintain the effects of your bodywork sessions. We can suggest and go over specific stretches and strengthening exercise in to focus on postural correction.
Stretching & Somatics
We incorporate different stretching techniques into your session in order to reeducate your muscles and instantly increase range of motion, improve motor performance, and aid in re-aligning and lengthening your muscle fibers and tissue. Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation is a commonly used technique as well as Somatic work to help retrain your muscles by queuing the peripheral nervous system associated with skeletal muscle voluntary control of body movements.
A form of soft tissue therapy that benefits an increase of range of motion, decrease in pain, and increase overall function to a specific area. This is a very effective technique that is used to break up, stretch out, and relieve the connective tissue, known as fascia, that is located throughout the whole body. Fascia surrounds all structures including muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones. Sometimes this fascia gets scarred down, stuck, or tight due to several different factors including injury or overuse of muscles that can limit mobility and cause dysfunction in the body.
Trigger Point Focus
Sometimes we will have a dysfunction within the belly of a muscle resulting in referral pain to another area. A lot of the times these types of pains and issues become hard to diagnose through other medical care. This treatment focuses specifically on these deep pains, dull aches, weakness, and loss of range of motion caused by hypersensitive "knots." This style of bodywork is usually done fully clothed.
Deep Transverse Friction
A deep tissue technique that is similar to Myofascial Release just performed deeper in order to get to the muscle belly as well as surrounding tissues in order to breakdown scar tissue and remodel the fibers to be a more flexible, pliable, and functional. This application usually leads to immediate pain relief and is combined with Trigger Point work as well as Myofascial Release.
Prenatal and Postpartum
A form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of expecting mothers as well as new ones. Improve blood circulation, relieve pain, decrease muscle tension and help with the overall new stresses that are added to the body while pregnant. Postpartum massage can reduce swelling, regulate hormones, improve breastfeeding, and help restore the body to normal condition. These sessions are customized to the client and her specific needs whether it be to focus on an area, just need to relax, or want a little bit of both. We'll get you through the whole journey and make sure you're still able to take care of your body, too!
